Boys And Girls With Their Feet In The Pool
We are excited to partner with Westbrook Community Center to offer beginner swim lesson this summer. We are offering a learn to swim for children in grades entering K-5 that will include six 25 minute swim lesson.

Who: Children Entering K-5
When:
Level 1 - Basic Water Skills (Beginner)- Mondays - July 10, 17, 24, 31, August 7 and 14
Level 2 - Intro to Water Skills - Wednesdays - July 12, 19, 26, August 2, 9, and 16
Where: Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St, Westbrook
Cost: $89 (6 lessons)


Level 1 – INTRO TO WATER SKILLS
- Enter pool using stairs or ladders
- Blow bubbles while holding onto wall
- Face and hair wet
- Assisted swimming using arms and legs – focus on face in the water and blowing bubbles with or without a noodle
- Floating on stomach and back
- Roll from stomach to back and back to stomach
- Retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool and return to surface
- Holding breath and pushing off wall to instructor with or without arm motions

Level 2 – BASIC WATER SKILLS
- Submerge and push off wall – holding breath and return to the surface after 3 second glide on stomach
- BOBS 10xs – without using the deck to hold onto (BOB = bounce/jump off the bottom)
- Retrieve an object off the bottom of the pool 3xs
- Kicking the width of the pool unassisted and back on stomach and back with kick board
- Swimming with Freestyle arm strokes – 5 strokes with face in water and roll onto back to breathe and return to stomach and continue to swim on stomach
- Push off on back and kick – focus on keeping eyes up on ceiling and belly button on surface
- Backstroke arm strokes
- Tread water for 30 seconds in chest deep water
- Float on back for 30 seconds
- Arm and hand treading in chest deep water
