9:15 AM - 10:30 AM    Tai Chi - Tai Chi Session 3
                  Tai Chi is a relaxing and gentle exercise program. It uses slow, multi-directional movements to tone muscles, increase flexibility, improve balance, and to enhance the immune system. Tai Chi also reduces stress and helps to quiet and focus the mind. Studies have shown that it is effective in reducing blood pressure. There are many articles you can research online regarding it's benefits. Tai Chi practice is the recommended exercise for people with MS, Parkinson's Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Daily practice gives an enhanced feeling of well-being.These classes are in the tradition of Chen Man Ching and Silk Reeling Chi Gong in the tradition of Grand Master Feng.Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted at Town Hall or on-line at www.standishrec.com until the Wednesday before the class is held.  Anyone wishing to register after the 8-week session begins will be charged for the entire class or a pro-rated fee of $8.00/class for the remainder of that session, whichever is lower.Please note:  As a general rule, if the weather is bad and school is cancelled for MSAD6 we will NOT have class. Also, if there is a 1 or 2 hour delay, there will be no class. Date: ThursdaysCost: 8 week session $64 or drop in $8 per class Albert Delaney has studied Tai Chi with Grand Master William Chen, Chi Gong Master Kenneth Cohen, and Don Ethan Miller. This seasons Music and Movement will be Holiday themed!Music and Movement is a fun and engaging introduction to music for young learners! This class is open to children ages 0 to 5 years - as a parent and child participation class for Babies, Toddlers, and preschool age children on Thursday Mornings!This engaging class uses fun Children's songs to teach musical concepts, encourage the development of new skills, increase children’s vocabulary, and provide a fun and safe environment for socialization. Children will have the opportunity to sing along with the guitar or ukulele, dance with scarves, play with bubbles, enjoy a musical story time, and play a variety of rhythm instruments including drums, bells, and shakers. Come experience the mind/body benefits of Yoga (with the support and safety of a chair) with certified yoga instructor Lisa King.Chair yoga includes gentle stretches and movements, which can enhance flexibility in joints, strengthen muscles and help with better balance and stability - without putting excessive strain on the body. Like traditional yoga, chair yoga emphasizes mindfulness and controlled breathing that can be adapted to suit various fitness levels and physical abilities. Every part of this class is an offering with no pressure to perform or compete. Modifications are offered. Dancers of all levels are encouraged to participate-it is a great form of exercise, not to mention a lot of fun! Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted on-line or over the phone at 642-2875. $30 for 6 -week session.Anyone wishing to register after the session begins will be charged a pro-rated fee of $8/class for the remainder of the session. Single class rate: $8 per class - PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST register prior to the class. NO payments will be taken by the instructor.                    Deb's School Year Cancellation/Weather Cancellation Policy: As a general rule, if the weather is bad and school is cancelled for MSAD6 we will NOT have class. Also, if there is a 1 or 2 hour delay, there will not be class.

In this program, children make gooey slime, experiment with different reactions and learn to use the tools that chemists use. Polymers and catalysts are only two of the fascinating concepts young scientists explore in this thrilling trip through the chemistry lab! This seasons Music and Movement will be Holiday themed!Music and Movement is a fun and engaging introduction to music for young learners! This class is open to children ages 0 to 5 years - as a parent and child participation class for Babies, Toddlers, and preschool age children on Thursday Mornings!This engaging class uses fun Children's songs to teach musical concepts, encourage the development of new skills, increase children’s vocabulary, and provide a fun and safe environment for socialization. Children will have the opportunity to sing along with the guitar or ukulele, dance with scarves, play with bubbles, enjoy a musical story time, and play a variety of rhythm instruments including drums, bells, and shakers. Come experience the mind/body benefits of Yoga (with the support and safety of a chair) with certified yoga instructor Lisa King.Chair yoga includes gentle stretches and movements, which can enhance flexibility in joints, strengthen muscles and help with better balance and stability - without putting excessive strain on the body. Like traditional yoga, chair yoga emphasizes mindfulness and controlled breathing that can be adapted to suit various fitness levels and physical abilities. Beginner YogaInstructor: Lisa KingLearn the fundamentals of yoga in a welcoming community.  We will explore many traditional yoga postures and movements and help you find the best way to work with your unique body/mind.  Through balancing effort and ease, students will increase strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance.  Breathing practices and mindfulness will also be offered with a nice relaxation at the end of class. Every part of this class is an offering with no pressure to perform or compete. Modifications are offered.
