Dancers of all levels are encouraged to participate-it is a great form of exercise, not to mention a lot of fun! Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted on-line or over the phone at 642-2875. $30 for 6 -week session.This session runs 7/8/25 to 9/2/25...no class 7/22/25, 7/29/25, or 8/12/25 so extended to 9/2/25.Anyone wishing to register after the session begins will be charged a pro-rated fee of $8/class for the remainder of the session. Single class rate: $8 per class - PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST register prior to the class. 9:15 AM - 10:30 AM    Tai Chi - Tai Chi Session
                  Tai Chi is a relaxing and gentle exercise program. It uses slow, multi-directional movements to tone muscles, increase flexibility, improve balance, and to enhance the immune system. Tai Chi also reduces stress and helps to quiet and focus the mind. Studies have shown that it is effective in reducing blood pressure. There are many articles you can research online regarding it's benefits. Tai Chi practice is the recommended exercise for people with MS, Parkinson's Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Daily practice gives an enhanced feeling of well-being.These classes are in the tradition of Chen Man Ching and Silk Reeling Chi Gong in the tradition of Grand Master Feng.Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted at Town Hall or on-line at www.standishrec.com until the Wednesday before the class is held.  Anyone wishing to register after the 8-week session begins will be charged for the entire class or a pro-rated fee of $8.00/class for the remainder of that session, whichever is lower.Please note:  As a general rule, if the weather is bad and school is cancelled for MSAD6 or if there was a 1-2 day delay, there will be no class. Let's play Bingo and celebrate National Banana Split Day together. This day recognizes the delicious ice cream treat made with a banana, whipped cream and various toppings. The banana split was originally served in drug stores and soda fountains and has become an iconic dessert in American culture. Did you know a 23-year-old apprentice pharmacist at Tassel's Pharmacy in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, created the first banana split in 1904. David Evans Strickler enjoyed inventing sundaes at the store's soda fountain. For only 10 cents, Strickler sold his first "banana-based triple ice cream sundae," double the cost of all the other sundaes.   Cost: FREE (we are asking that you register, so we know how many people to expect) Bingo will take place in the Sebago Lake Room at Standish Town Hall ~ 1:00pm-3:00pm.        Please join us with Instructor Lisa King who will lead you in weekly Strength & Balance in a safe setting. "Strength and balance" refers to a combination of muscular power and the ability to maintain stability and control over your body position, essentially meaning having strong muscles that also allow you to stay balanced during movement.According to Lisa..."Movement is medicine! Join this fun, dynamic class. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your muscles, build bone, support your joints, or improve your balance...this class is for you. Movement sequences are thoughtfully designed to safely and gradually explore therapeutic movements that will improve your quality of life. Strength training can be done with or without small hand weights. Much of the class can be done from a chair or from standing, and all are welcome! Join us in the Sebago Lake Room at Standish Town Hall for this easy-to-follow Zumba class focused on balance, range of motion and coordination while dancing basic rhythms such as salsa, reggaeton, merengue and cumbia. Come join this modified dance fitness that releases endorphins and leaves you feeling empowered and strong!
