                  Tai Chi is a relaxing and gentle exercise program. It uses slow, multi-directional movements to tone muscles, increase flexibility, improve balance, and to enhance the immune system. Tai Chi also reduces stress and helps to quiet and focus the mind. Studies have shown that it is effective in reducing blood pressure. There are many articles you can research online regarding it's benefits. Tai Chi practice is the recommended exercise for people with MS, Parkinson's Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Daily practice gives an enhanced feeling of well-being.These classes are in the tradition of Chen Man Ching and Silk Reeling Chi Gong in the tradition of Grand Master Feng.Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted at Town Hall or on-line at www.standishrec.com until the Wednesday before the class is held.  Anyone wishing to register after the 8-week session begins will be charged for the entire class or a pro-rated fee of $8.00/class for the remainder of that session, whichever is lower.Please note:  As a general rule, if the weather is bad and school is canceled for MSAD6 or if there was a 1-2 day delay, there will be no class. Join us in the Sebago Lake Room at Standish Town Hall for this easy-to-follow Zumba class focused on balance, range of motion and coordination while dancing basic rhythms such as salsa, reggaeton, merengue and cumbia. Come join this modified dance fitness that releases endorphins and leaves you feeling empowered and strong! Dancers of all levels are encouraged to participate-it is a great form of exercise, not to mention a lot of fun! Standish Jr. Chefs - Edna Libby After Care Does your child have an interest in cooking? Not only will they learn how to make apple crisp, they will get to hand pick the apples they use! Week 1: Apple Picking at a nearby Orchard! Week 2: Making Apple Crisp at              Standish Municipal Center! In order to participate, your child must be enrolled in Edna Libby After Care! All participants will be brought back to Edna Libby at the end of the program for regular pick up until 5:30PM This program does require transportation, provided in one of our Standish Parks & Recreation vehicles.Melody Makers with Miss Olive!Did you know our very own Miss Olive has a background in music?!      Get ready to groove with Instructor Lisa King who has taught Hip Hop Dance for 20 years and will lead you through electrifying elements of Street Funk, Hip Hop, and Jazz. Celebrating FUN, movement, rhythm, and agility in this inclusive beginner's class encourages participants to enjoy the simplicity of repeating simple sequences in a supportive, non-judgemental environment. There is no dance experience necessary! All experience levels are welcome, however it will be a fundamentals level class focusing on exercise with dance elements. Dancers of all levels are encouraged to participate-it is a great form of exercise, not to mention a lot of fun! Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted on-line or over the phone at 642-2875. $30 for 6 -week session.****There will be a 2-week session 10/7/25 and 10/14/25 for $10.00 or drop-in for $6.00.The next 6-week session after that will be 11/18/25-12/23/25Anyone wishing to register after the session begins will be charged a pro-rated fee of $8/class for the remainder of the session. Single class rate: $8 per class - PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST register prior to the class. NO payments will be taken by the instructor.                    Deb's School Year Cancellation/Weather Cancellation Policy: As a general rule, if the weather is bad and school is cancelled for MSAD6 we will NOT have class. Also, if there is a 1 or 2 hour delay, there will not be class and the session will be extended out another week.

Standish Jr. Chefs - Edna Libby After Care Does your child have an interest in cooking? Not only will they learn how to make apple crisp, they will get to hand pick the apples they use! Week 1: Apple Picking at a nearby Orchard! Week 2: Making Apple Crisp at              Standish Municipal Center! In order to participate, your child must be enrolled in Edna Libby After Care! All participants will be brought back to Edna Libby at the end of the program for regular pick up until 5:30PM This program does require transportation, provided in one of our Standish Parks & Recreation vehicles.Melody Makers with Miss Olive!Did you know our very own Miss Olive has a background in music?! She will be sharing her talents in this Edna Libby After Care Club, teaching participants the basics on how to play ukelele!Participant with have a quick snack at After Care, then jump into practice from 3:45 - 4:30 PM, then join up with After Care again!Registration closes - Wednesday October 29th In order to participate, your child must be enrolled in Edna Libby After Care!
