Fort McKinley Tour & Lunch at Diamond's Edge

Please join us on the Casco Bay Ferry for a scenic cruise to Diamond Cove on Great Diamond Island for a guided golf cart tour of Fort McKinley's historic military complex. Fort McKinley was established in 1896 as part of the coastal fortifications designed to protect Portland Harbor. The tour includes a golf cart ride around the fort, providing insight into it's historical significance and the various structures that remain. The small museum of artifacts that offers exhibits on the history of Fort McKinley, is owned by the Diamond Cove Homeowner's Association and operated by a committee of volunteers. Some of the homeowners on Diamond Cove may be willing to show us around their community, which includes buildings that have been placed on the National Historic Register.
After the tour, we will enjoy lunch at Diamond's Edge Restaurant that although a bit pricey offers a menu focused on local seafood and seasonal dishes (cost of lunch on your own).
Although there will not be significant walking, please wear comfortable footwear.
Cost: $23.00 includes transportation and ferry ticket (cost of lunch and museum donation on your own). Refunds will be given on a case-by-case basis.
Please bring $ 20.00 cash as a donation to the museum.
We will leave Standish Town Hall promptly at 8:30am and will return at approximately 5:15pm. Please park in the upper-level parking lot.
