Join us for a guided tour of the Joshua L. Chamberlain Museum and Skolfield-Whittier House in Brunswick. The Chamberlain Museum for 50 years was the home of American Civil War General, Bowdoin College President and Maine Governor. The tour is being offered by  Pejepscot Historical Society who purchased the house in 1983 saving it from demolition. The museum is in the process of being restored as it was when Chamberlain lived there, telling the story of his life, his family and the building itself. 

The Skolfield-Whittier House was home to several important Maine citizens and was constructed between 1858-1862 and has remained virtually unchanged for more than 100 years. The house was built by prominent sea captain and ship builder Alfred Skolfield. Three generations of the same family lived in this beautiful Italianate home. The house's 17 rooms provide a glimpse into 19th century upper middle-class life in Maine.  

We will first enjoy touring the Chamberlain Museum lasting approximately 1 hour, before heading to lunch at The Fountain Ice Cream & Deli in Bath, a charming old-fashioned eatery that brings the classic soda fountain experience back to life! After lunch, we will return to Brunswick for a guided tour of the Skolfield-Whittier House.

Cost: 30.00 includes transportation and tickets for both museums. 

We will meet at Standish Town Hall and leave promptly at 9:45am and return at approximately 4:00pm. Please park in the upper-level parking lot.
