You are invited to join us for a fun filled day in Manchester Maine. Our first stop will be at
"Stained Glass Express" locally owed and operated since 1988 where you will use your imagination to create glass art. If this is your first experience with glass art, it will not be your last! Be creative...make mistakes...change your mind and watch yourself create a masterpiece! All materials and instructions are provided for this self-guided project. You get to choose the project that best fits your interest and budget.
Projects include glass votives, various small plates, picture frames, ornaments/magnets, a night light, and even a large square platter. Look on their website at
www.stainedglassexpress.com to view available options. Prices range from $20-$95 and include all the materials and instructions you will need. Norma also has sample project pamphlets in the Parks & Recreation office.
Creation Station projects are made with fusible glass and glue—that’s it! You’ll choose your background and accessories according to the simple instructions, then sit right down in their large, brightly lit classroom to design and assemble in about an hour. Once you’ve got everything together the way you like, the staff will put the glass in the kiln and fuse it together into one piece. Your projects will later be picked up by Parks & Recreation staff and you will be notified when ready to be picked up at Standish Town Hall.
Once our projects are complete, we will enjoy a late lunch down the road at
The White Duck Brew Pub (cost of lunch on your own).
If there is time, how can we be so close and not swing by
Kennebec Cabin Company,
home of hit TV Show Maine Cabin Masters to visit their retail store stocked with arts and crafts made in Maine by local artisans.
Cost: 15.00 includes transportation to Manchester and pick up of glass art finished product...
(cost of glass art project and lunch is on your own).
We will leave Standish Town Hall promptly at 8:45am and will return at approximately 4:00pm. Please park in the upper-level parking lot.Questions, contact Norma at nmarchant@standish.org or (207) 642-2875.
