maine mill

Please join us in a tour of the Maine Museum of Innovation, Learning and Labor located over two floors within the Bates Mill in Lewiston and experience the history of the mill. This museum tells the diverse stories of hard-working people who built Lewiston and Auburn, especially through it's mills and creative invention. Their unique collection is made up of over 10,000 artifacts, including salvaged industrial machinery, such as jacquard loom, original bedspreads and industrial-sized silkscreens from Bates Manurfacturing Company. The museum celebrates the industrial heritage of Lewiston & Auburn and was founded in 1996 and open to the public since 2004. This museum is a large building and this hour and a half tour does require walking. It is wheelchair accessible and has an elevator to the second floor.

We will enjoy lunch at Chick-a-Dee of Lewiston on the way back to Standish.

Cost: $15.00 includes museum ticket and transportation to Lewiston. (Cost of lunch on your own)

We will meet at Standish Town Hall and leave at 9:00 am and return at approximately  2:30pm. Please parking in the upper-level parking lot.
