Join us for a trip off the beaten path, to Downeast Maine.
 
We will leave from Standish Municipal Center Thursday morning and stop for lunch ( on your own) at Dysarts in Hermon, famous for homestyle food and desserts and voted as the best truck stop food in the country by Food and Wine Magazine in 2023.
 
We will visit the Orono Bog Boardwalk, and experience the beauty and color of a Maine Bog in the fall. A guide will provide us with insight into the ecology and history of the flora and fauna found along the 1-mile boardwalk loop trail.
(Benches are provided every 200 feet.)
 
Afterward, we will check into our Bangor hotel for our overnight stay and make a visit to Hollywood Casino for dinner (on your own) or at a nearby restaurant.
 
Friday morning, after breakfast at our hotel, we will travel through the blueberry barrens as we head to Wreaths Across America Museum in Columbia Falls. The museum features hundreds of photos, military memorabilia and information explaining the origin of Wreaths Across America. We can also visit the tip lands, where the balsam tips are harvested each year to be made into the wreaths that are placed on veterans’ graves.

As we make our way back we will take the 6-mile, one-way loop road around the Schoodic Peninsula which offers stunning views of the seashore and forest-draped islands.
We will stop for lunch (on your own).

glass blowing After lunch, we will visit Atlantic Art Glass Studio in Ellsworth to see where Linda Perrin and her staff work their magic - creating glass jewelry, vases, and ornaments.  Atlantic Art Glass studio is turned into a "glass pumpkin patch"  this time of year, and we should have a chance to see those pumpkins being created by the artists in the studio.

Fee includes travel by mini-bus and van, hotel, breakfast, and admissions. 
All other meals are on your own.
