Castle in the Clouds
Enjoy a self-guided tour of the Castle in the Clouds and grounds, also known as Lucknow Mansion, a magnificent mansion dating back to the earliest 20th century. The castle was built by Thomas Gustave Plant a shoe manufacturer and designed by architect J. Williams Beal of Boston. The mansion was an architectural novelty at the time of it's construction, as it was built with many technologically advanced features and ultra-modern appliances for it's time, like interlocking tiles, circular showers and centralized vacuum system. The 135-acre estate, currently under the administration of Castle Preservation Society and ownership of Lakes Region Conservation Trust, provides one of the most stunning views of New Hampshire’s largest lake, surrounding mountains, over 5,500 acres of conserved land, and historic and modern garden landscapes. The castle also houses an art gallery and gift shop.

Please note: Although they are working on an accessibility plan to help improve the Castle experience for all visitors,  currently access to the second floor requires navigating a set of stairs. There is a video presentation for those who can not navigate the stairs.  

**We will enjoy lunch on our way back to Standish (cost of lunch is on your own)

Cost: $35.00 includes Castle in the Clouds self-guided tour and transportation (cost of lunch on your own)

We will meet at Standish Town Hall at 8:00am and return at approximately 4:00pm. Please park in the upper-level parking lot.
