Please join us on an adventure to the Rufus Porter Museum of Art and Ingenuity located in Bridgton, Maine, that features the history of a remarkable 19th century New Englander, Rufus Porter (1792-1884). Porter is well-known in the folk art community for his landscape murals and miniature portraits, however, Porter was more than just a painter. He was the founding publisher and editor of the magazine Scientific American as well as inventor, writer, teacher and more. During this guided tour, we will explore the world and Era in which he lived and worked. There will be time to visit the museum gift shop as well.
Following the tour, we will have a chance to check out some local shops in Bridgton, including a bookstore that features the works of Maine native Stephen King. We will enjoy lunch on our way back to Standish at Annette's Country Skillet Diner in Naples that blends heartwarming flavors of classic American diner cuisine with the rich traditions of Italian cooking. (Cost of lunch on your own)
Cost: 22.00 includes transportation and museum ticket.
We will meet at Standish Town Hall and leave promptly at 9:15am and return at approximately 3:00pm. Please park in the upper-level parking lot.
